Team Preview: Colombia’s preparation for the SheBelievesCup

Head coach Angelo Marsiglia has named his squad for the SheBelieves Cup. In this time, Colombia will face the United States, Japan, and Australia as they will fight for their chance at a title. 

As we approach the beginning of the competition, the 23-player squad once again includes Catalina Usme who is their most capped player and top goals scorer with a whopping 52 goals. 

Notable names include Chelsea’s Mayra Ramirez who never fails to impress as during the 2024 Olympics, she scored the very first goal of the match, despite losing overall on penalties.  

Linda Caicedo is yet another name that is very well known as she has had a very strong campaign in Liga F with Real Madrid as she consistently adds to their attack, further strengthening their frontline.  Caicedo was also named in the shortlist for the 2024 FIFPRO Women’s World XI, adding to her merit. 

Although the squad have not played a major tournament since the Olympics, Marsiglia’s squad show promise for their fight for silverware as the competition celebrates its 10th anniversary.  

The last time Colombia faced one of these teams, was in the Quarter-Finals of the CONCACAF W Gold Cup where they lost 3-0 to the United States but will now have a chance to redeem themselves.
