On Sunday the 16th of March, Nottingham Forest will face Derby County at the City Ground, a game many fans look for when the fixtures come out at the beginning of a season. The fixture has been known to be tough, but this season it's bigger than ever.

Forest form:

So far this season, Carly Davies' Nottingham Forest has had an amazing season. The side sits at the FAWNL Northern Premier division unbeaten on 45 points in 17 games. Throughout the season, Forest have dominated many teams across the leagues, with their set up working incredibly well tactically, allowing them to play their football with so much composure.

Previous fixture:

Last Sunday, the Red's won against Burnley 2-0 away from home. The fixture was always going to be tough due to the top of the table beginning to look tight.

The passion through Carly Davies' Forest was seen throughout this game, and it was a massive positive for them to help get the two goals needed to keep their top of the table position.

A link up between Charlie Wellings, Hollie Olding and Sophie Domingo was the reason for Forest's first goal. Throughout this fixture the Reds created multiple pockets throughout the pitch, allowing their attacking strength to dominate. The Tricky Tree's second goal from this fixture came from a Freya Thomas header who (alongside many others) has had an outstanding season so far.

Derby form:

Derby County currently sit 8th in the FAWNL Northern Premier Division on 18 points, winning five games this season. This season has been difficult for them after losing their last three games, however the Rams have been unlucky in multiple fixtures.

Previous Fixture:

Derby's previous fixture wasn't as positive as Forest's. The side lost 2-1 vs Liverpool Feds at home. The team had multiple chances throughout, putting pressure on the away side, however it just wasn't meant to be.

In the second half, the Ewes' came back out fighting to get their goal which eventually came from striker, Chene Muir when she knocked the ball into the back of the net to try and keep them in the game but it just wasn't meant to be.

Both sides throughout played excellent football and the fixture was an enjoyable one to watch.

Last time out:

The team last played each other back in October 2024. Forest won 2-1 away from home and here's how the fixture went:

Derby suffered a heartbreak in the final few minutes of the East Midlands Derby. In the first half, Forest gave away a penalty which was scored by Daisy Burt, giving the home team the lead they deserved.

This goal, alongside an offside one by Paris Dalton, riled up Davies' Forest. Charlie Welling smashed the ball into the back of the net, getting Forest back into the game.

Forest then carried on and took the game away from Derby after a handball in the box gave Forest a penalty. Wellings (known for scoring a penalty) slotted the ball away again and the 3 points travelled back to Nottingham

This fixture is known to be a tough one with both sides putting their bodies on the line. This fixture is massive so go get your tickets now!
